Before tattooing, I was pursuing Chartered Accountancy while completing my B.Com. I had cleared my CA entrance exam on my first attempt, and from the outside, it looked like I was on the perfect career path. But deep down, I had always been an artist. I was the person who spent hours sketching in notebooks, creating ideas, and getting lost in art. Tattooing fascinated me, although I never imagined it could become my profession.
As I started exploring tattoo artistry, something inside me kept saying, I can do this. That feeling grew stronger every day until I finally decided to pursue it seriously. My biggest motivation was my own desire to improve. Every artwork I completed made me want to create something even better. During my training, Saiyam Patel became my greatest inspiration. Learning directly under him completely changed the way I understood art and tattooing.
Saiyam sir didn’t just teach me how to tattoo. He taught me sketching, digital design, client consultation, body anatomy, skin types, hygiene, professionalism, and most importantly, how to respect the craft. His mentorship built the foundation of everything I practice today.
Ironically, the COVID lockdown became the turning point in my life. With my CA exams postponed, I had uninterrupted time to focus entirely on learning tattooing. What seemed like a setback became the opportunity that shaped my future.
After completing my training, Saiyam sir offered me a position as a Junior Artist at Sam Tattoo India in 2021. Within a year, he trusted me to represent the studio at the Inksoul Tattoo Festival 2022, an international convention. Surrounded by experienced artists, I was nervous until he told me, “Stay focused on your artwork and your canvas.” Those words stayed with me, and I won my first award. In 2025, I added two more awards at the Kula Tattoo Festival.
Today, becoming the youngest mentor at the same academy where I once trained is one of the proudest moments of my life. Teaching aspiring artists allows me to pass on everything I’ve learned and help them grow faster than I did.
Choosing tattooing over CA is a decision I’ll never regret. My advice to every aspiring artist is simple: follow your passion, but support it with discipline, patience, and consistent practice. Talent may open the door, but dedication is what builds a lasting career.
